Could I do an Underworld check to see if I know of any gangs or seedy organizations in this area that wouldn't kill us on sight?

If you have at least a point in it, then you'd be able to roll to remember the major cartels that operate in the city. Streetwise or asking someone with some social skills to actually find them.
Offhand, you have no reason to believe any would shoot on sight necessarily.

Some things I think make sense for natural ability, but I'm not sure knowledge works.
People could always ask around.

Awig'ravar Female Twi'lek
Attractive and knows it. She was straightforward and usually had good intel, so you weren't going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
The spice you were running was for a local workers union. The other jobs were for unnamed parties.

Neil that was a knowledge underworld check that I rolled. Not sure if that's the most appropriate or not. I guess I shoulda asked first You'd need Charm for that one. Interacting with people to get information requires charm, coercion, deception, or negotiation. She might give up some info with just a conversation, but considering she's a lady of the night, it'll take some creds or an interaction check. Knowledge checks of any sort are only for you knowing something offhand or having learned it from experience/school.

Just an FYI, things you can try without actual points in the skill:
Interaction checks like Charm, Coercion, etc. Resistance/Initiative checks like Cool, Discipline, Resilience, etc. Physical ability checks like Athletics, Coordination, Stealth, Vigilance Attack checks like Ranged (Light), Melee, Gunnery, etc. (unless it's something absurdly specific they are mostly point and click) Stealth is fine.
Maybe the more efficient list, shit you actually need a point in to do AKA takes specialized knowledge and a dude off the street can't just do it with sheer ability or luck: Astrogation Mechanics Medicine Piloting of any kind Knowledge
